Why does an extra kilometre cost €0.35?

The first 100 km a day are included in the day price. Above that you pay €0.35 per kilometre. I don't make money on it. This car costs more per kilometre than an average rental car.

  • Just over 2,200 kilos. Empty, the Mach-E GT weighs about 2,220 kilos, some 700 kilos more than an average new car. You notice that on every kilometre: the tyres and brakes wear faster and it uses more electricity.

  • Tyres. A set of 20-inch tyres costs €1,100 to €1,300 and lasts about 25,000 km on a heavy car with 487 hp. The tyres alone cost around €0.05 per kilometre.

  • Insurance and road tax. A 487 hp electric GT isn't cheap to insure. And since 2026 an electric car pays road tax too: 70 per cent of the rate for its weight. Both travel with every rented kilometre.

  • Cleaning and maintenance. After every trip it goes inside: dirt out, interior and paint checked, charged again. That time, the services and the days it stands still between bookings travel with every rented kilometre.

How it works

  1. Book

You book through SnappCar. You also pay there, and you're insured through SnappCar during the rental.

  2. Digital key

After booking, you put the digital key on your phone, in the FordPass app.

  3. Pick-up

When you pick it up, we pair your phone and I walk you through the car. Allow about ten minutes.

  4. Return

You bring it back with at least 25 per cent in the battery. SnappCar asks for that.

What isn't allowed

  • No track. No track days, circuit days or Touristenfahrten at the Nürburgring.

  • No competitions. No races, sprints or time trials, not even on closed grounds.

  • No drifting. Not even briefly in an empty car park.

  • No burnouts. Not even for a photo or video.

  • Booked drivers only. Anyone who isn't on the booking doesn't drive.

  • No lending or subletting. The car stays with the renter named in the booking.

  • No smoking. No e-cigarettes either. If the upholstery smells of smoke after your trip, SnappCar charges a fine plus the cleaning costs.

  • No pets. Not even in a crate or on a blanket. If it really can't be avoided, send me a message through SnappCar beforehand. Then we'll look at what's possible. It's about extra care for the renters after you.

  • Going abroad by arrangement. Send me a message through SnappCar before you book. If I agree, also tick SnappCar's foreign coverage when you book. It applies in Europe, and only in the countries on the green card.

For some of these rules SnappCar charges a fine, for example for smoking or for a driver who isn't on the booking. The amounts are in SnappCar's penalty policy. You can read what the insurance does and doesn't cover on SnappCar's insurance page. This is a summary: every booking is subject to SnappCar's terms and conditions.

Good to know: the car is connected. It's linked to the FordPass app. In the app I can see where it was last parked and how full the battery is. I don't watch live while you drive.

Trip registration for the tax authorities. The car keeps a trip registration, as required by the Dutch tax authorities (Belastingdienst). I only use that data for the rental administration.

What's welcome? Enjoying it.

That's what you rent it for. A beautiful drive, good company and a day to remember.

  • Take the scenic route. A weekend away, a date night or your first electric drive. Enjoy the GT, with respect for the car and other road users.

  • Bring your favourite people. Family, friends or the kids: it's even better together. The child seat can also be used as a booster seat.

  • Make it an occasion. Your wedding day, a birthday or a photoshoot. Take photos, make memories and have fun.
